This stunning blanket was produced by Kanata Blanket Company and designed by the Sparrow Sisters. It is part of Kanata's Native Art Collection. Made in the USA from 100% cotton yarn. It is a three layer woven blanket that is fully reversible. The woven designs of Debra and Robyn Sparrow integrate the rich history and culture of the Coast Salish people.The Morning (Mourning) Star Blanket is an interpretation of the celestial body, Venus, and its significance to the Salish people – a reminder of loved ones that have gone before them. Faux suede lasered patch in tan that highlights this is a licensed design. Complemented with hang tag telling artists’ story and about the blanket. About the artists- The Sparrow Sisters have been continually inspired by their ancestors’ strength, creativity and intelligence, and Debra and Robyn Sparrow have been creating Salish weavings for over 20 years. Debra is a self-taught Musqueam designer who was born and raised on the Musqueam Indian Reserve, she integrates her peoples’ history into her art and design work. It is Debra’s hope to educate others about the beauty and integrity of her people’s history through her art. Machine wash separately in cold water on gentle cycle. Tumble dry low heat.
